Telepathic books berth in Villiers Stakes

Saturday 28 November 2015, 3:38pm

The Chris Waller-trained Telepathic has earned herself a spot in the Group Two Villiers Stakes with a comfortable win at Rosehill.

The five-year-old was the clear favourite in the Listed Tyreel Stud ATC Cup (2000m) on Saturday at $1.50.

Telepathic did not disappoint punters with a 1-3/4 length margin over the Tony McEvoy-trained gelding Lucky Lucky Lucky ($12) who nosed out the early race leader Vilanova ($12).

"She will go to the Villiers and be very hard to beat," Waller said.

Waller expects the mare to cope well going back to the 1600m of the Villiers in two weeks and has experience with other stayers to back it up.

"We've had a bit of success with bringing horses back from 2000 metres to a mile," he said.

With only two weeks until the Villiers at Randwick on December 12, Waller wont work Telepathic too hard.

"We'll just do a little bit less intense fast work. But we still need to do a little bit of fast work just to keep her blood levels up," he said.
