Emtevee in upset win at Doonben

Saturday 28 November 2015, 3:00pm

Toowoomba filly Emtevee Queen has shown the value of race experience, improving on her previous city start to score an upset win at Doomben.

Saturday's Sky Racing 2YO (1050m) was expected to be an easy assignment for the $1.60 favourite Spot the Diff but she struggled into sixth place.

Emtevee Queen ($11) came from well back in the field to beat Sundance ($14) by a head with River Racer ($15) a short neck away third.

The filly won her first start in Toowoomba before her third to Zelady's Night Out at Doomben two weeks ago when she raced greenly.

Trainer Kevin Kemp said although Emtevee Queen was qualified for the Magic Millions Classic on January 9, she was not a definite starter.

"It would be nice to be there in January and there are a million reasons to run. But you don't get ahead of yourself with two year olds," Kemp said.

"I have been looking for a reason to put her in the paddock but she hasn't given me a reason yet."

Kemp said Emtevee Queen had taken plenty of benefit from her recent racing.

"She really hit the line today and I am looking forward to getting her out to 1200 metres," he said.

Emtevee Queen is by Testa Rossa who won the Magic Millions Classic and has sired the winner of the race in Unencumbered.

"It would be nice to make it a treble with Emtevee Queen. But if not she should make a nice winter carnival horse," Kemp said.
