Criterion gallop adds interest at Valley

Friday 27 November 2015, 6:06am

David Hayes will be represented by a number of chances at Moonee Valley but the best horse he takes to the track won't be competing in a race.

Hayes and co-trainer Tom Dabernig have five runners set to compete at Saturday's meeting including Group Two-winning sprinter Churchill Dancer, the $3.70 favourite in the City Jeep Handicap (1000m).

But most interest will centre on the appearance of multiple Group One winner Criterion in a public gallop before the first race.

Criterion is being readied for another overseas trip for next month's Hong Kong Cup and will top off his preparations in an the gallop before his scheduled departure on Monday.

The five-year-old finished third in the race last year.

Hayes and Dabernig have scratched two-year-old Blue Tycoon from the opening race to instead run in Adelaide but will be represented in the race by Rampage.
