Snowdens' Good Idea hinges on Bris weather

Thursday 12 November 2015, 11:23am

The Snowden stable is keeping a watch on the Brisbane weather before declaring That's A Good Idea a definite starter in the first stakes race of the summer carnival.

That's A Good Idea is the 60.5kg topweight for Saturday's Listed Keith Noud Quality (1200m) at Doomben.

One of the sharpest sprinters in training, That's A Good Idea resumed with a third to elite sprinters Terravista and Rebel Dane in the Group Two Premiere Stakes on October 3 before a stakes placing behind stablemate Dothraki two weeks later.

That's A Good Idea is no stranger to Brisbane racing and was second to Ball Of Muscle in the QTC Cup in May.

Despite his good form, That's A Good Idea has proven a headache for the Snowdens because of his aversion to wet tracks.

On firm tracks, That's A Good Idea has won eight races and been placed 10 times but on soft or heavy going he has one third from six attempts.

"He has been accepted for the Keith Noud but he won't run if the track is badly rain-affected. He really needs it bone dry to do his best," Paul Snowden said.

"We will wait until the last minute to make our decision and hopefully the weather will improve."

Damian Browne will be aboard That's A Good Idea after also being chased for the ride on Tinto.

Peter Snowden has made no secret of the fact he tried to lure Browne to Sydney as his stable rider but the jockey didn't want to leave the Sunshine Coast.

Apprentice James Orman, who is leading the Brisbane premiership and is second on the Australian list, will partner Tinto.

Doomben was rated in the soft range on Thursday morning.

Showers are predicted for Brisbane during the next few days.
