Bosson wins another feature race in Vic

Star New Zealand jockey Opie Bosson has capped a memorable week with another feature winner in Victoria.

After experiencing his biggest thrill in racing aboard Mongolian Khan in Saturday's $3 million Caulfield Cup, Bosson combined again with trainer Murray Baker on Sunday to win the $150,000 Listed Seymour Cup with Turn Me Loose.

It was Bosson's third winner from as many rides in Victoria this week. He also took out the Group Three Ladies' Day Vase on the Danny O'Brien-trained Miss Rose De Lago on Wednesday at Caulfield.

Bosson earned praise for his Caulfield Cup ride on Mongolian Khan while New Zealand Group One winner Turn Me Loose lived up to his favouritism in Sunday's Seymour Cup (1600m).

Because he was racing keenly in the early part of the race, Bosson let Turn Me Loose work to the lead from his wide barrier.

"I wish they were that easy all the time," Bosson told racing.com.

"He over-raced quite hard throughout the race and was really running. I thought with how hard he was going, I didn't know if he was going to keep it up, but he's a good horse and he's still got a lot of improvement in him."

Turn Me Loose ($2.90) had 3-1/4 lengths on Scream Machine ($20) with Garud ($12) another three-quarters of a length third.

Bosson, 35, said he celebrated his Caulfield Cup win by having dinner with Mongolian Khan's owners before going to bed early.

"I might have to celebrate tonight," he said.

Bosson has won more than 40 Group One races during his career with Mongolian Khan's Cup win his third in Australia.

He won the 1998 VRC Oaks on Grand Archway and this year's Australian Derby on Mongolian Khan.

And Bosson hasn't ruled out becoming a more permanent fixture in Australian racing having said he is more focused now and has his weight under control.

"If I got the opportunity I'd definitely come," he said.

Bosson rode Mongolian Khan at 55kg in the Caulfield Cup.
