Mongolian Khan, Fame Game draw well in Cup

Tuesday 13 October 2015, 5:33pm

Caulfield Cup favourite Mongolian Khan has drawn a middle gate for the $3.5 million race.

The New Zealand four-year-old was first horse to be allocated a barrier and the ATC Australian Derby winner drew gate nine in the 2400m Group One event at Caulfield on Saturday.

If the four emergencies are withdrawn, Mongolian Khan will move in three stalls to start from gate six.

Japanese stayer Fame Game drew the rails while the UK-trained Snow Sky also came up with an inside barrier in gate three.

In contrast to Fame Game, compatriot Hokko Brave drew off the track in gate 19.

Godolphin four-year-old Hauraki, runner-up to Mongolian Khan in the Australian Derby, drew barrier 14.

Last year's Melbourne Cup winner Protectionist has barrier 12.

Sydney Cup winner Grand Marshal easily drew the best of Chris Waller's three runners after coming up with barrier six.

His stablemates Who Shot Thebarman and Royal Descent have drawn 21 and 22 respectively.
