Press Statement well supported in Guineas

Thursday 8 October 2015, 7:14am

Despite his awkward draw, Press Statement has been the firmer in betting for the Caulfield Guineas.

After coming up with barrier 14 of 17 which includes one emergency, Press Statement was initially easy in the market.

However punters have since stepped in and the Chris Waller-trained three-year-old has been supported to be the clear-cut $2.20 favourite.

New Zealand visitor Dal Cielo, a last-start narrow third behind Bon Aurum in the Guineas Prelude at Caulfield on September 26, has also firmed since the barrier draw.

Dal Cielo has trimmed up from $11 to $9 to sit on the third line.

Second favourite Ready For Victory, who will wear blinkers for the first time, has been a little easy from $7 to $7.50 with the support for the other two horses.

Stay With Me, who is out to emulate the victory of her dam Miss Finland in the 2006 Thousand Guineas, has been the best supported in the fillies version, firming from $4.60 into $4 favourite.

She heads the market for the Group One race over Pasadena Girl ($4.40) and Miss Gunpowder at ($5.50).
