Blinkers for Ready For Victory in Guineas

Tuesday 6 October 2015, 5:55pm

Mick Price has ensured Ready For Victory has not only worked in blinkers but also jumped from the barriers in the headwear in an endeavour to give the talented colt every chance at Caulfield Guineas success.

Price will put blinkers on Ready For Victory in Saturday's $1 million race after the colt's disappointing performance in the Guineas Prelude last start.

The trainer said Ready For Victory was cherry ripe for Saturday and pleased him with his work on Tuesday.

His new race jockey Glen Boss, who replaces the suspended Damien Oliver, was bullish about the colt's prospects after he worked at Caulfield in company with stablemate and Guineas rival Tarzino.

Ready For Victory wore the blinkers on Tuesday and Price also gave him a barrier test in them last Friday.

The trainer said he had noticed some other horses dwelt at the start when they had blinkers applied mid-preparation.

"I didn't want that to happen in a Caulfield Guineas," Price said.

"So I've done my best.

"I think we've got him cherry ripe. I think he'll be genuine."

Ready For Victory is second favourite for the Guineas behind Press Statement.
