Moody avoids race day treatment charge

Friday 18 September 2015, 6:31pm

Embattled trainer Peter Moody has had some good news with Racing Victoria stewards deciding not to charge him with a race day treatment offence after scratching one of his horses in June.

Noela's Choice was withdrawn from a race at Moonee Valley on June 20 after the Compliance and Assurance team suspected the horse had received treatment on the morning of the race.

Stewards reviewed all evidence and considered legal advice and were not satisfied that a race day administration could be proved to the requisite legal standard.

Moody has been at the centre of controversy this week over comments he made saying stewards had investigated putting people into stables to work undercover.

The trainer, who faces an inquiry into illegal levels of cobalt found in Turnbull Stakes runner-up Lidari, also said he was ready to walk away from racing.

A Moody horse was scratched from Pakenham on Wednesday after receiving a clay poultice on race day.

Fellow trainer Robbie Griffiths has been informed Roman Fizz has returned a positive sample to Ibuprofen, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory, after winning a maiden race at Pakenham in July.

Stewards are continuing their investigations.
