Rich Enuff fully primed for Caulfield

Thursday 27 August 2015, 3:24pm

Rich Enuff makes his highly anticipated return to racing in a Group Three sprint at Caulfield and will be re-united with the jockey who first rode him to stakes race success.

Dwayne Dunn rode the Ken Keys-trained Rich Enuff to what the jockey described as a `pretty awesome' win in the Listed McKenzie Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley last August in his only race ride on the horse.

Commitments to Hawkes Racing meant Dunn relinquished the ride on Rich Enuff and Michael Rodd then rode the colt to wins in the Danehill Stakes and Caulfield Guineas Prelude before finishing a game second in the Group One Caulfield Guineas.

Rich Enuff was unplaced in the Coolmore Stud Stakes at his final spring start, then missed the autumn because of a ligament issue in a back hock.

Damien Oliver was booked to ride Rich Enuff in his comeback and has ridden the horse in his two recent barrier trials but misses Saturday's meeting through suspension.

Dunn got the nod to fill in on the four-year-old in his first-up start in The Heath (1100m) at Caulfield.

"I think that's probably something that Ken has kept in the back of his mind, that I'll be able to give him a guide on where I think he's at from where he's come from," Dunn said.

Rich Enuff has won two barrier trials at Cranbourne this month and is the $2.10 favourite for Saturday's race.

"He's drawn barrier one and he's trialled up well, so hopefully he can come back bigger than ever," Dunn said.

"It looks like he's come back, but until they do it on raceday we just have to wait and see."

Woodside Park Stud bought a share in Rich Enuff last spring and Keys has said trying to secure a Group One win this spring is the focus.

Damien Oliver is booked to ride Rich Enuff in his next planned start after Saturday with the Group One Rupert Clarke Stakes on the radar third-up.
