Alaskan Rose stormed into Thousand Guineas calculations with an impressive debut win at Sandown and will be out to back that up when she gets her first look at Caulfield.
The Mike Moroney-trained Alaskan Rose left her rivals in her wake to win a midweek 1300m benchmark race for fillies at Sandown on debut by 4-1/2 lengths earlier this month.
She is on the fourth line of betting for the Group One Thousand Guineas (1600m) in October and will be out to maintain a winning start to her career when she steps out for the second time in Saturday's Montague Tree Handicap (1400m) at Caulfield.
Moroney said Alaskan Rose looked like she was the best three-year-old filly in his stable on what she had shown leading into her debut, and he was taken by what the daughter of Encosta De Lago produced at Sandown.
"She was very impressive," Moroney said.
"This will be her first look around Caulfield and more than likely she'll go into the Guineas Prelude after this. So we'll give her a couple of looks at Caulfield before the Thousand Guineas."
Moroney said the way Alaskan Rose attacked the line on debut was encouraging with the view to stretching out to the 1600m of the Guineas.
"She showed that good turn of foot that the good ones show," Moroney said.
"I just hope that things stay in place and she keeps improving."
Alaskan Rose has barrier two in a field of 10 for Saturday's race.
Moroney has six-year-old gelding Rhythm To Spare entered to make his comeback in Saturday's Hockingstuart Handicap (1400m).
Rhythm To Spare had bone chips removed from the near fore fetlock since his last start and will be aimed towards races like the Toorak Handicap.
