Lane loses appeal, misses Memsie day

Wednesday 26 August 2015, 12:54pm

In-form jockey Damian Lane has failed in his appeal against a careless riding suspension and will miss the Memsie Stakes meeting.

Lane appealed the decision and severity of a 10-meeting ban for careless riding on At First Sight early in the final race at Moonee Valley on Saturday.

The Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board dismissed Lane's appeal on Wednesday, meaning Lane will have to forfeit a good book of rides at the first Group One meeting of the Australian racing season on Saturday at Caulfield.

Setinum will need a new rider in the Memsie Stakes while Lane's other rides included Miss Promiscuity, May's Dream and Bold Sniper in stakes races.

Lane will return for Saturday week's meeting at Moonee Valley.
