Capacity field for G1 Memsie Stakes

Wednesday 26 August 2015, 12:06pm

Multiple Group One winner Boban has drawn barrier five in a capacity Memsie Stakes field while last year's Cox Plate runner-up Fawkner will have to start from a wide gate.

A full field of 16 plus four emergencies has been declared for Saturday's weight-for-age Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield, the first Group One race of the Australian racing season.

Boban is one of two Chris Waller-trained runners and while he has drawn nicely, his stablemate Weary has barrier 16.

Fawkner, who hasn't started since his unplaced finish in last year's Melbourne Cup, has barrier 18 with Steven Arnold to ride.

Rosehill Guineas winner Volkstok'n'barrell has barrier 12 and Happy Trails, who will be starting in his fourth Memsie Stakes, will start next to the New Zealander in 13.
