McDonald suspended, misses Exosphere ride

James McDonald will miss partnering Exosphere in the Run To The Rose after being hit with a suspension for his winning ride on another Godolphin three-year-old.

McDonald was outed for shifting out on Shards near the 200m in the Group Three Up and Coming Stakes, hampering Kathy O'Hara's mount Cannyescent.

The jockey admitted he was unaware Cannyescent was there and pleaded guilty to taking the other horse's running.

He was suspended for five meetings which takes in next Saturday's feature meeting at Rosehill.
