Rich Enuff on song for Caulfield return

Friday 21 August 2015, 11:11am

Champion jockey Damien Oliver has given top sprinter Rich Enuff the thumbs up for his return to racing at Caulfield.

Oliver trialled the four-year-old over 800m at Cranbourne on Friday and while the time wasn't slick he was impressed with his effort.

However, Oliver will have to sit out Rich Enuff's first-up run in The Heath Stakes (1100m) on August 29 after being hit with an 11-meeting suspension at Seymour on Wednesday.

Dwayne Dunn, who scored on Rich Enuff in the McKenzie Stakes at Moonee Valley last year, will be reunited with the son of Written Tycoon before Oliver returns for the Bobbie Lewis Quality at Flemington on September 12.

Oliver had trialled Rich Enuff on a heavy track at Cranbourne on August 10 and was happy with Friday's trial.

"It was an improved trial and I'm very happy with where he is at," Oliver said.

Trainer Ken Keys said there were a number of jockey options for Rich Enuff, including Singapore-based Michael Rodd, but he had elected to go with Dunn.

He said connections didn't want a new rider unfamiliar with the sprinter with Oliver returning to the saddle for the Bobbie Lewis.

"There were many choices and because it's a one-off and the fact that Dwayne was a part of it to start with, we decided to go with him," Keys said.

After the Bobbie Lewis, Rich Enuff will head to the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on September 26 after which Keys will decide whether to step him up in trip or come back for Group One sprints like the Manikato Stakes and Darley Classic.

Rich Enuff hasn't raced since finishing seventh to Brazen Beau in the Coolmore Stud Stakes at Flemington last November.

He had an autumn preparation stopped after injuring a tendon.
