Most Wanted finally Hong Kong bound

Wednesday 19 August 2015, 12:33pm

Impressive Flemington debut winner Most Wanted has finally been sold to Hong Kong.

Most Wanted was on the verge of being sold to Hong Kong last month, resulting in the gelding being scratched on two occasions from city meetings.

The sale eventually fell through and Most Wanted made his debut on August 8, scoring an impressive victory at Flemington under Damien Oliver over 1400m.

A deal was completed on Tuesday to purchase Most Wanted and he will now head to the Hong Kong stables of Richard Gibson.

Trainer John Sadler said the deal for owner Owen Egan was hard to knock back, especially for a gelding with no residual value as a stallion.

"Owen Egan was offered good money for him before he ever raced which was off the back of an all-weather trial," Sadler told Melbourne radio station RSN.

"He then went to Flemington and was able to win and his price went up considerably after that win.

"I think it is a different owner but the same trainer and the deal was completed yesterday (Tuesday)."

Sadler said it was disappointing to lose a horse of Most Wanted's untapped ability and said Egan had made the right decision to sell.

"We now have to go through another 50 to find that (special) one, but we'll enjoy the challenge," Sadler said.
