Greg Ryan rides winner No. 3323

Sunday 9 August 2015, 6:12pm

Jockey Greg Ryan has racked up victory No.3323 to make him second on the all-time winning list in Australia.

Only Robert Thompson, who is now in the 4000s, has ridden more winners than NSW country rider Ryan.

Ryan posted the milestone win on the Les Roberts-trained Show And Tell at Scone on Sunday after equalling the mark set by the late Jack Thompson, last week.

Jack Thompson rode his first winner in 1938 and Ryan paid tribute to the Hall of Fame jockey.

"He must have done a wonderful job with the number of race meetings in his era," Ryan told Sky Thoroughbred Central.

"We have a lot more meetings nowadays."

Robert Thompson also added to his score with victory much further north on Sunday when he took out the Cairns Cup aboard the Janel Ryan-trained Seafight.
