Jockey Greg Ryan equals riding milestone

Monday 3 August 2015, 1:50pm

Greg Ryan has equalled an Australian riding milestone achieved by just two other jockeys with his victory aboard Missing at Forbes on Monday.

The bush jockey took his career tally of winners to 3322, drawing level with the mark established by the late Jack Thompson.

Only Robert Thompson, no relation to Jack, has ridden more winners having notched over 4000 victories and counting.

Ryan's hopes of equalling Jack Thompson's record last week were frustrated by wet weather which led to the cancellation of two NSW country race meetings at which he was due to ride.

However, a double at Muswellbrook on Sunday moved him to within one win of the milestone and he didn't have to wait long to notch win number 3322, scoring aboard Missing in the opening race at Forbes.
