A solid barrier trial by Anna Lizzie has her trainer Danny Bougoure confident the mare can earn herself another season of racing.
Anna Lizzie will be having her first start since February when she runs in Saturday's Cargo Transport Systems Open (1200m) against a field of handy off-season sprinters at Doomben.
The mare has raced just 20 times, recording six wins and three seconds, and although she turns six on Saturday there are no plans to retire her.
"The owners have said as long as she is well and happy they will let her race on," Bougoure said.
"Last campaign she ran a great second first-up in the Magic Millions Fillies and Mares Quality and it was only a bad barrier which beat her that day.
"She ran a nice fourth in a trial at Deagon. They ran a very fast final sectional and Glen (Colless her jockey) didn't knock her around."
Bougoure said because Anna Lizzie usually raced well fresh he would be disappointed if she didn't return to her best on Saturday.
Among her opposition will be Murder Of Crows who will be having his first start for Gold Coast trainer Gillian Heinrich.
Formerly with Chris Waller in Sydney, Murder of Crows is raced by a syndicate which includes John Singleton's Strawberry Hills Stud.
The gelding ran fifth in a recent Gold Coast barrier trial and was scratched from last week's Sunshine Coast meeting because of a wet track.
