Japanese stayer Fame Game aimed at Cups

Thursday 30 July 2015, 6:19pm

Star jockey Zac Purton will get the chance to win back-to-back Caulfield Cups with his booking for Japanese horse Fame Game.

The Caulfield and Melbourne Cups have been confirmed as targets for Fame Game who finished second in the Grade One Tenno Sho (3200m) at his most recent start.

Fame Game is the early favourite for the Melbourne Cup.

Hong Kong-based Australian Purton won last year's Caulfield Cup on another Japanese horse Admire Rakti who started favourite in the Melbourne Cup.

After being eased down by Purton and finishing a long last, Admire Rakti collapsed and died in the horse stall area after the race.

Five-year-old Fame Game, trained by Yoshitada Munakata, has won the Grade Three Diamond Stakes over 3400m for the past two years.
