Our Harmony earns chance in Listed race

Thursday 9 July 2015, 2:17pm

David Brideoake has no concerns with in-form Our Harmony handling straight racing at Flemington despite the filly failing in her only start there.

Our Harmony has earned her chance in Saturday's 1200m Listed A R Creswick Series Final having won three of her past four starts in metropolitan races including victory in a fillies' race at Caulfield last Saturday.

The three-year-old's only unplaced run this campaign was first-up at Flemington in a 1200m straight race won by Face Forward, but Brideoake believes there was an excuse.

"I thought the track was very hard that day and I believe she jarred up," Brideoake said.

Brideoake believes Our Harmony has shown she is capable of making her presence felt on Saturday.

Our Harmony is one of two fillies, along with Face Forward, in the Listed race for three-year-olds which has a field of nine including last-start Flemington winners Husson Eagle and Rough Justice.

Flemington was rated in the soft range on Thursday.

Brideoake said Our Harmony had come through her win on Saturday well and he is happy for the filly to step up to stakes company for the first time on a seven-day back-up.

"It's quite a good field but I think she deserves her chance in a decent race," Brideoake said.

"We've always had a good opinion of her and she's now won five from nine and four of those have been city races.

"We really think she's a genuinely high-quality filly with a great appetite for work. She's lovely and sound and they're the type of horses every stable wants.

"I think her form adds up to be nicely competitive in this sort of race."

Brideoake said Our Harmony would likely have a little let-up after Saturday before attention shifts to mares' races in the new season.

"I think once she turns four there should be some lovely mares' races for her," he said.
