Kennewell sprinters to line up in Adelaide

Thursday 18 June 2015, 6:42am

Heart Of A Lion is following in the hoofsteps of stablemate Jennyfromtheblock as a Moonee Valley scratching poised to run in Adelaide.

Trainer Lloyd Kennewell withdrew Jennyfromtheblock from Moonee Valley on Saturday after she drew barrier 15 in the 16-horse field of the Pantry Packer Handicap.

After studying the field of the Sporting Globe Best Bar & Grill Handicap and consulting his owner, Kennewell also made a decision to also keep Heart Of A Lion for a race at Morphettville.

The stablemates will clash in the Schweppes Handicap.

Kennewell said a win on Saturday would see Heart Of A Lion given his chance in Melbourne.

"I just think the 1000 metres will suit the horse better than the 1200 metres and there's ample races coming up in Melbourne for him," Kennewell said.

Kennewell said Heart Of A Lion could be part of the action in Melbourne next month in weight-for-age races for sprinters.

The trainer, who won last year's Bletchingly Stakes with Thiamandi, said the race was a possible target for Heart Of A Lion.

Another alternative for the rising six-year-old is the Victorian Sprint Series.
