Spill The Beans impressive in Randwick win

Saturday 6 June 2015, 1:12pm

The early spring three-year-old features are now firmly in the sights of Spill The Beans who has caused a minor upset at Randwick.

The Gerald Ryan-trained colt beat older horses on debut at Gosford and brought that form with him on Saturday.

He had late support in the two-year-old race over 1100 metres, firming from $6 to $4.80 with Godolphin's Holler the $1.70 favourite.

Brenton Avdulla drove Spill The Beans to the front to early in the race and maintained a steady tempo.

Holler loomed up in the straight but Spill The Beans had plenty in the tank and went on to beat the strong-finishing Yaboroo ($61) by a short neck with the favourite another half neck away.

Blake Ryan, representing his father who was in Brisbane for Stradbroke day, said the Arrowfield Stud-owned colt was likely to have a short break.

"This is his first genuine preparation," Ryan said.

"He had an accident in his box and missed the summer and autumn racing," Ryan said.

"He will probably have a short break now. He's done a great job to beat older horses at Gosford and then to come here today.

"He will go out now as a fit horse and the idea would be to bring him back for the early three-year-old races like the San Domenico and the Up And Coming Stakes."

The Snitzel colt was formerly trained by Paul Messara who has cut back his team to concentrate on the family business at Arrowfield.
