Moody hoping Maid can run a Ripper

Friday 5 June 2015, 5:05pm

Group One placegetter Bring Me The Maid has figured in a change of plans with trainer Peter Moody redirecting her campaign towards the Tatt's Tiara.

Moody originally hoped to run the filly in Saturday's $2 million Stradbroke Handicap but those plans were abandoned when it became clear she would struggle to make the field.

"She would have only been the third emergency for the Stradbroke so I decided to forget that race and head her to the Dane Ripper Stakes and then the Tatt's Tiara," Moody said.

Bring Me The Maid was placed in last year's Golden Slipper and won the Silver Shadow Stakes as an early-season three-year-old.

Her best form is on wet tracks but she wasn't disgraced on a firm surface last start, finishing ninth to Boban in the Doomben 10,000 after being blocked for a run in the straight.

The filly is the second favourite at $5 for Saturday's Dane Ripper Stakes behind multiple Group One placegetter Catkins at $2.40.

The Tatt's Tiara (1400m) for fillies and mares at the Gold Coast on June 20 is the final Group One race of the Australian season.

Catkins ran a close fourth last year with third placed Avoid Lightning the favourite for Saturday's June Stakes at Randwick.

The 2014 Tatt's Tiara winner Cosmic Endeavour claimed the Dane Ripper in her lead-up to the Group One race.
