Waller with multiple G1 runners at Doomben

Monday 1 June 2015, 3:14pm

Fresh from his 13th Group One win of the season with Winx in the Queensland Oaks, trainer Chris Waller will look to build on his total with multiple runners in all three feature races at Doomben.

Saturday's meeting in Brisbane is the second last chance for Group One victories this season with Doomben hosting the J J Atkins Stakes for two-year-olds, the Queensland Derby and the $2 million Stradbroke Handicap.

Press Statement will be one of three runners for Waller in the J J Atkins Stakes, backing up from his win at Rosehill on Saturday.

A half brother to Pressday, winner of the 2010 Atkins (then TJ Smith) Press Statement took his record to two wins from two starts with his victory over 1350 metres.

Waller confirmed on Monday the colt would join Feast For Eyes and Counterattack in the 1600m race.

He will be ridden by Tye Angland with Zac Purton to ride Feast For Eyes and Hugh Bowman to partner Counterattack.

A Warwick Farm winner in April, Counterattack has finished fourth in two Group Two Brisbane starts in the Champagne Stakes (1200m) and Sires' Produce (1400m).

Feast For Eyes scored his maiden win over 1550m at Canterbury last Wednesday. He is raced by Macau businessman C C Lai who is also the owner of three-year-old Delectation, a $9 chance in Saturday's $2 million Stradbroke Hcp (1350m).

Waller will also have Doomben 10,000 winner Boban in the Stradbroke and the imported Flamingo Star if he gets into the field.

Tommy Berry will ride Flamingo Star if he makes the final 16 while Glyn Schofield is on Boban and Glen Boss on Delectation.

Multiple Group Two winning mare Catkins is also in the mix but is more likely to run in the Dane Ripper Stakes on her way to the last Group One race for the season, the Tattersall's Tiara on June 20 at the Gold Coast.

The Waller stable will field three runners in the Queensland Derby - Sadler's Lake (Blake Shinn), Redoutable Heart (James McDonald) and Quick Strike (Berry).
