Seeking More to strike in Lightning Hcp

Thursday 28 May 2015, 11:23am

The resurgence of veteran Queensland trainer Kelso Wood is set to continue at Doomben.

After a lean time, Wood has had winners at the past two metropolitan meetings and was the only Queensland trainer to make a dent on the NSW dominance at Doomben last Saturday when Into The Red won.

His confidence in Seeking More has been boosted with the gelding drawing a good barrier in Saturday's Listed Queensland Lightning Handicap (1000m).

The seven-year-old has not won for more than a year but has been a consistent placegetter in high-quality races.

At his most recent run, Seeking More ran second to Falino in the Listed Bribie Handicap at the Sunshine Coast.

"He drew barrier 15 and got caught deep. He has drawn barrier four on Saturday and that should give him a chance," Wood said.

Seeking More has had five starts at the Lightning trip for two wins and two seconds including a second to the Sydney sprinter Craftiness.

"These are the right races for him. Just below the very best horses," Wood said.
