Typing hits the right keys at Toowoomba

Saturday 2 May 2015, 3:03pm

Trainer Stuart Kendrick's belief in Typing as a stakes class filly has been confirmed by her dominant win at Toowoomba.

Typing ($17) charged home to beat In His Stride ($4) by two lengths with 1-1/2 lengths to third-placed Jam Toast ($6) in Saturday's Listed Dalrello Stakes (1200m).

Kendrick was impressed with the run and immediately set about plotting a winter carnival campaign for Typing.

At her previous start, Typing finished third behind stablemate Montana Star at Doomben on April 4, an effort that prompted Kendrick to think about better races.

"It really was an eye-catching run that day. Even though I won it with Montana Star it was Typing who really pleased me," Kendrick, who is based at the Sunshine Coast, said.

"I was going to run Typing at the Gold Coast last weekend but she drew off the track. Instead I thought the Dalrello would be a perfect race for her."

He said Typing would now press on to the Group Two Queensland Sires' Produce Stakes (1350m) on May 30 and the Group One J J Atkins Stakes (1600m) on June 6.

Typing is by Sebring out of a Zabeel mare and is bred to get much further than 1200m.

"She cost only $20,000 so she looks a cheap buy now," Kendrick said.

Winning jockey Jim Byrne said Typing showed the turn of pace of a top class horse.
