Carlton House due in Australia on Monday

Sunday 23 December 2012, 5:48pm

The Queen's horse Carlton House is due in Australia from Hong Kong on Monday afternoon to begin his new life.

A Group winner in England in the care of Sir Michael Stoute, Carlton House will be trained by Gai Waterhouse in Sydney.

He finished sixth in the Hong Kong Cup three weeks ago and will be accompanied on the flight from Hong Kong by third placed Alcopop and Sea Siren who was unsuccessful in the International Sprint.

The trio will spend three weeks in the Werribee quarantine facility.

Earlier this month, the Queen's racing and bloodstock adviser John Warren said Carlton House appeared to be the right type of horse for Australian racing.

"Carlton House looks the perfect candidate to race in Australia where there are a considerable number of options for an older horse," Warren said.
