Better wins in store for Fatale: Stanley

Saturday 18 April 2015, 3:43pm

The colours made famous by champion racehorse Kingston Town were carried to victory at Caulfield on Saturday.

An inaugural inductee into the Australian Racing Hall Of Fame, Kingston Town won three Cox Plates for Tommy Smith.

While Fleur Fatale, a debut winner of the VOBIS Gold Ingot (1200m), is unlikely to reach such dizzy heights, trainer Brent Stanley thinks the filly is a future Group One winner.

Ridden by Michael Walker, Fleur Fatale ($16) scored by 1-1/4 lengths from the favourite Danuki ($2.60) with Luchador ($31) three quarters of a length away third.

Stanley said the daughter of Commands would be in the spelling paddock on Monday before preparing for a Group One spring campaign which will include the Thousand Guineas and VRC Oaks.

"She's got untapped ability," Stanley said.

"We put blinkers on her solely to run her in a 1200-metre race, otherwise she just floats and is a naturally relaxed horse.

"I've got no doubt in six months time she'll be a pretty smart horse."

Stanley said David Hains, who owned Kingston Town along with a number of other Group One stars, rang him six months ago and offered him the last four horses he owns.
