Brisbane sprinter Adebisi win Razor Sharp

Saturday 22 December 2012, 6:38pm

Queensland sprinter Adebisi will become a familiar name in Sydney racing after an all-the-way win in the Listed Razor Sharp Handicap at Warwick Farm on Saturday.

"He will be making a few trips backwards and forwards just to get away from the handicapper in Brisbane," trainer Desleigh Forster said after the $100,000 race.

Dropping four kilograms on a last-start unplaced run in Group Three company in Brisbane, Adebisi made the running and survived a strong challenge to land a $5.50 to $4.40 betting move.

Confirming his reputation as one of the fastest beginners in Brisbane racing, Adebisi was taken straight to the front by Hugh Bowman and he was never headed over the 1200m to beat Bound To Blush ($5.50) by a neck.

Riva De Lago ($8) finished third, a further 1-1/2 lengths away.

"Chris Munce said 12 months ago he is one of the fastest horses out of the gates he has ridden," Forster said.

"He's a good horse most of the time. It's just that weight gets him in Queensland. He's a brave horse but everyone knows that weight stops trains."

Bowman thought Adebisi would struggle to hold out Bound To Blush after the John O'Shea-trained mare made a surge for the lead soon after straightening.

"She got close and I must admit that at the 250 (metres) I thought she was going to offer a challenge but my bloke just fought and was holding her easily late," Bowman said.

Forster promised Bowman he would be the first jockey she called when making plans for future Sydney starts.

"I'll be bringing him back for a few of these Sydney sprints and I've got your number," she told the leading jockey.

Forster completed a two-state double within 10 minutes when I'm Cool, having just his fifth start, made it four wins with an effortless Doomben victory.

"Michael Cahill knocked back the ride on Adebisi here at Warwick Farm to ride Mr Cool so that says a little bit about his ability," Forster said.

Cahill will however venture south on Boxing Day to ride the Forster-trained Poste Restante, one of the favourites for the Summer Cup at Rosehill.
