Arabian Gold fit to run in Doncaster Mile

Wednesday 1 April 2015, 5:34pm

Arabian Gold will continue to be closely monitored despite being cleared to start in the Group One Doncaster Mile at Randwick on Saturday.

The mare was suffering the effects of a corn earlier in the week when trainer David Vandyke reported her to be lame in the off foreleg.

She has responded well to treatment and was given a fitness clearance by Racing NSW vets on Wednesday.

However, Vandyke said there was a danger the problem could flare up again before Saturday although he remained hopeful Arabian Gold would take her place in the $3 million race.

"We will keep a close eye on her and we'll let everyone know if she takes a backward step," Vandyke said.

"She was passed fit this morning and she worked very well so she seems to be going the right way."

The mare is a $21 chance for Saturday's Group One race.

Australian Derby contender Ruling Dynasty is still being treated for a foot abscess and will undergo a vet test on Thursday to determine his fitness for Saturday's staying test.

Caulfield Cup runner-up Rising Romance has recovered from a hoof problem but a wet track could rule her out of the Chairman's Handicap in which she has top weight of 59kg.

If it is too wet, trainer Donna Logan will consider diverting her to the Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) on Saturday week rather than the Sydney Cup (3200m) on the same day.

The heel problem ruled Rising Romance out of the BMW which was to have been her Sydney Cup lead-up.
