Four Doncaster jockeys half a kilo over

Tuesday 31 March 2015, 5:09pm

Jockeys Dwayne Dunn, Craig Williams, Corey Brown and Sam Clipperton will ride their Doncaster mounts half a kilogram over their given weights.

Ninth Legion (Dunn) will now carry 53kg, It's Somewhat (Williams) 52kg, Suavito (Brown) 50.5kg and Sweynesse (Clipperton) 50.5kg.

Of the four, Godolphin's Sweynesse is the most favoured at $11 but will need a scratching from Saturday's $3 million race to gain a start as the first emergency.

Arabian Gold, to be ridden by Chad Schofield, will undergo a veterinary inspection after she works on Wednesday.

On Monday the mare was found to be lame in her off-fore leg because of a corn on that hoof.

But trainer David Vandyke said once the shoe had been removed and a poultice applied, Arabian Gold had made significant progress.

"She is getting better and things are in our favour," Vandyke said.

"Hopefully the wet weather stays around because that will also help her."

A $21 Doncaster chance, Arabian Gold has five wins from six starts on soft or heavy ground.
