A horse good enough to compete on the big stage in Hong Kong last year looms as one of the most interesting runners on Villiers Stakes day at Warwick Farm.

Joe Pride will start Hypurr in the Listed Razor Sharp Handicap (1200m) as the former John Size-trained galloper kicks off a new phase of his career in Australia.

Hypurr, who raced as Sichuan Success in Hong Kong, was a Group Three winner there and finished fifth in Group One Hong Kong International Mile last year.

He was unplaced in three runs in Hong Kong earlier this year and Pride said the galloper had a couple of issues which led to the Australian-bred joining his stable.

The son of Fastnet Rock has shown enough in two barrier trials for Pride to be upbeat about a positive return at Warwick Farm.

"I think he's a horse that will probably take a bit of racing and maybe need 1400 metres, but overall he's a really nice horse," Pride said.

"His trials have been good without being great and I'm pleased with him."

Pride is looking for Hypurr to produce an encouraging first-up performance to bring an autumn campaign into view.

"He's not up at the right time of the year for a horse of his quality but if he can show something in a few of these summer sprints I would be aiming up at the autumn carnival and seeing what we can do there," Pride said.

"He's primarily a 1400 metre horse, or that's what I think he is anyway."

Pride's representation for Villiers Stakes day includes Racing Heart in the main race.

And not for the first time, Pride is hoping for rain ahead of a feature 1600m event.

Pride's former stable star Sacred Choice took out the Group One Doncaster and Group One Myer Classic on wet tracks during the 2010/11 racing season.

Racing Heart's best form is also on rain-affected ground and Pride says he will need a soft track to be competitive in the Villiers.

"He needs a wet track, that's the bottom line," he said.
