Sistonic out to bounce back at Flemington

Friday 13 March 2015, 2:25pm

David Hayes is adamant Sistonic's first defeat was not a true reflection of the filly's quality and is looking for her to bounce straight back to winning ways at Flemington.

The close relation to Black Caviar won her first two starts in lesser grades with before tiring to finish fourth in the Group Three Typhoon Tracy Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley.

The trainer was critical of Michael Walker's ride, saying he went too fast on the filly in the first 600m with the race run in a negative split.

"Good fillies should run home faster than they start, and she did it the other way around," Hayes said.

Nick Hall, who had been booked to ride the filly last start but missed the meeting through a leg injury, jumps aboard in Saturday's MSS Security Stakes (1100m) up the straight and Hayes said the signs were good that the tough run hadn't taken too much out of Sistonic.

"That is my one doubt, but if she's as good as I know she is she should be able to win this race," Hayes said.

Sistonic is the $3.80 favourite in a field which includes last year's Blue Diamond winner Earthquake and stakes winner Nostradamus.

They are both at $6 and are coming off unplaced runs against older horses in the Group One Oakleigh Plate.

Sistonic holds nominations for sprints during The Championships and an interstate trip is on the radar pending her performance on Saturday.

"I would say we'll decide whether we go to the paddock or Sydney out of this run," Hayes said.

"I think we'll be going to Sydney."
