Chris Waller's chances of playing a part in the Golden Slipper rest with unbeaten filly Always Allison in the Magic Night Stakes at Rosehill.
Sydney's premier trainer was reluctant to commit the filly to a Slipper start after her qualifying win in the Sweet Embrace Stakes last Saturday week given that her owners Paul and Allison Fleming would have to pay the late entry of $150,000.
But he says he can be persuaded if she can win her third race on Saturday.
"If she won with her head on her chest we would have a re-think," Waller said.
"The market will tell us where she should be."
At the moment, the TAB's Slipper market has Always Allison safe at $15.
There were 18 entries taken on Monday for the Magic Night (1200m) and 14 in the Pago Pago Stakes for colts and geldings including the Waller-trained Vanbrugh, a midweek winner on debut at Randwick last month.
"He will run in the Pago Pago but he is more of a Sires' Produce type than a Slipper horse," Waller said.
Vancouver is the $2.80 favourite for the Slipper on March 21, regaining his place as the market leader with his Todman Stakes win on Saturday.
Exosphere, a Pago Pago Stakes entry, is now the leading hope for Godolphin at $6 with former favourite Headwater out to $8 after his Todman third.
Senior trainer John Hawkes said there was no need to panic after the colt's defeat.
The Mick Price-trained Ready For Victory, an impressive debut winner at Flemington on Saturday, is also entered for the Pago Pago.
He sits just outside the 16-horse Slipper field and if he runs on Saturday to try to ensure his place, it means racing weeks in a row.
