Miracles Of Life up to the Challenge

Saturday 7 March 2015, 6:01pm

Bonny mare Miracles Of Life has helped ease the Snowden stable's Randwick Guineas disappointment with an explosive win in the Group Two Challenge Stakes.

Shooting To Win was the favourite for Saturday's Group One Guineas but could only manage third behind Hallowed Crown.

But the smile was back on senior trainer Peter Snowden's face after Miracles Of Life came from midfield to beat a classy field of sprinters in the 1000m dash.

"She's not very big but her heart is as big as she is," Snowden said.

"She puts so much into her races.

"The Guineas was disappointing but we will press on."

While favourite Rubick ($3.20) was jammed up on the fence with nowhere to go, Miracles Of Life ($5) swooped down the middle of the track to beat Va Pensiero ($12) by 2-1/4 lengths.

Rubick eventually found clear room and raced into third, a half head behind the runner-up.

The winner of the 2013 Blue Diamond Stakes for Adelaide trainer Dan Clarken, Miracles Of Life was bought at a broodmare sale and sent to Snowden.

American racing and breeding concern Stonestreet Farm paid $900,000 for Miracles Of Life and she wears their maroon and yellow colours.

The mare gave Hugh Bowman his third winner for the day after his victories on Griante in the Group Three Wenona Girl and Hallowed Crown in the Group One Guineas.

"She might be just below the top level sprinters but she was well placed today," Bowman said of Miracles Of Life.

"I think 1200 metres sees her out but under the right conditions she is always a chance."

Despite Bowman's assertions, Miracles Of Life is entered for the Group One TJ Smith Stakes (1200m) in April with Snowden saying he would let her tell him whether she was up to it.
