Pride Of Dubai will be racing to justify a Blue Diamond berth when he steps out this weekend.

The Peter and Paul Snowden trained colt is not among third declarations for the Group One race at Caulfield on February 28 and will need to win, or run well, for his owner Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa al Maktoum to pay a $55,000 late entry fee for the $1 million race.

Pride Of Dubai has been entered for the Blue Diamond Prelude (1100m) at Caulfield on Saturday and the Lonhro Plate (1100m) at Randwick as a precaution.

Paul Snowden said Pride Of Dubai would be an acceptor in both races and barriers would decide where the colt ran.

"We'll accept but if he draws 15 down there he'll run in Sydney on Saturday," Snowden said.

"He's got to perform to get to the Blue Diamond.

"If he goes down there and runs tenth then he won't be going back down."

Pride Of Dubai showed his potential when third behind the $8 Golden Slipper second favourite Ottoman at his only run at Rosehill on December 20.

Snowden said the effort was full of merit and showed the son of Street Cry was well above average.

"They're all saying the winner is a super horse," Snowden said.

"Well this horse did all the work for the winner and it peeled off his back and got over the top of a green horse.

"I'm sure he'll be somewhere around the mark wherever he runs on Saturday."

Pride Of Dubai was given a short break following his debut performance and was tuned up for Saturday with a 1045m trial at Randwick on February 2 which he won.

Snowden said the colt had continued to improve.

"He's worked every day since that trial and he worked very good this morning," Snowden said on Tuesday.
