Gullible makes it three wins on the trot

Saturday 15 December 2012, 2:39pm

Improving three-year-old Gullible capped her first preparation with a third straight win at Rosehill on Saturday.

The half-sister to smart sprinter Rain Affair will be given a break before trainer Chris Waller looks to the latter part of the autumn carnival with the filly.

"There's two nice races in the autumn, the PJ Bell and the James Carr Stakes, and hopefully we've got enough time to get her back and ready for those types of races," Waller said.

Gullible was coming off midweek city wins at Hawkesbury and Canterbury and settled midfield in the Bowermans Office Furniture Handicap (1200m) as the Gai Waterhouse-trained Volutina led the field.

Volutina started to fade early in the straight and apprentice Alysha Collett took Gullible ($4.80) through along the inside to hit the front with 250m to run.

Favourite Bennetta ($3.10) hit the line out wide for second but could only get within 1-1/4 lengths of the winner while Prettyfamous ($12) was another half-length away third.

Waller said Gullible, who is raced by popular owner and breeder Don Storey, had continued to get better and would be improved again next campaign.

"Three months ago she couldn't win a track gallop but you could always see she could gallop," he said.

"She's just gradually improved and each time she's been given a pretty good ride."
