Magic Millions aim for Catseye Surprise

Thursday 13 December 2012, 5:57pm

Catseye Surprise is bound for the Magic Millions race day at the Gold Coast next month.

But how she goes at Rosehill on Saturday will decide if her target is a $1 million race or one worth 10 times less.

Trainer Terry Croft says Catseye Surprise will go for the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas if she wins the Bowermans Office Furniture Handicap.

Otherwise she will head north for the Magic Millions Maiden.

"Of course it would be nice to get a chance to start in a million-dollar race. But then again you don't get many maidens worth $57,000 to the winner," Croft said.

Catseye Surprise is closing in on her first win with three seconds this preparation.

"It's a bit annoying but she's very honest," Croft said.

The filly is $8.50 in betting for her Rosehill assignment with Gullible favourite at $3.40.

"The favourite only just beat her last start so I think she'll be competitive," Croft said.

Croft also has Lady La Douce running in Saturday's Ascend Sales Trophies Handicap (1200m) after she has been placed at her past two starts.
