Tudor poised to end lean run for Harrison

Wednesday 31 December 2014, 3:17pm

Trainer Doug Harrison has been having an exasperating run of bad luck with his team and hopes it can turn around with Tudor at Moonee Valley.

The colt will be having his first run back from a break when he lines-up in the VOBIS Gold Carat (1200m) on Saturday.

Harrison has had just four winners from his last 50 runners.

Tudor was successful at Bendigo on August 13 and again at Moonee Valley on September 26 with Harrison preparing only two winners since.

It is in stark contrast to Caulfield trainer John Moloney who is riding the crest of a wave with 16 winners from his last 50 runners.

"I just need to get onto a winning track somewhere," Harrison said.

"I'm having one of those runs at the moment and I need John Moloney's luck.

"I grabbed hold of him the other day and tried to rub a bit of luck off him, but it hasn't worked at the moment."

Harrison has booked Craig Williams for the ride on Tudor who backed up twice in the space of three days during Cualfield Cup week.

After running fourth behind Eloping in the Blue Sapphire on October 15 he then finished ninth to Stratum Star over 1400m on October 18 and he hasn't raced since.

"He's come up well and it looks a lovely race to have a go at," Harrison said.

Tudor has raced twice previously at Moonee Valley finishing eighth behind Rich Enuff in the McKenzie Stakes over 1200m before scoring in good time on September 26.

"He ran in the McKenzie and got held up behind them that day," Harrison said.

"He had a bit of a break and then came out and won there, running good time compared to Eloping, then he didn't get a lot of luck at his next two starts."
