Permit has recovered from minor injuries suffered in the Christmas Cup and is fit and ready for his defence of the Tattersalls Club Cup at Randwick.

The Chris Waller-trained gelding won both the Christmas Cup and the Tattersalls Cup a year ago but met with disaster in the first leg this time around.

He suffered cuts when he was galloped on in the 2400m race on December 13 and finished a long last in the Christmas Cup won by his stablemate Saigon Tea.

Waller has also entered Summer Cup winner I'm Imposing, Multilateral and Hoylonny in the Tattersalls Cup (2400m), the feature race on New Year's Day.

All three ran in the Summer Cup on Boxing Day and Waller has not completely ruled out a quick back-up for two of them.

"It's unlikely that I'm Imposing or Multilateral will run but we'll see how they are over the next few days," Waller said.

"A lot would depend on what weight I'm Imposing gets but I think it will be too much.

"But Permit will definitely be there."

I'm Imposing carried 59kg in the Summer Cup and among Waller's other options is to give him a break and aim him at the weight-for-age Doomben Cup in May.

With only nine entries for the Tattersalls Cup, entries have been left open until Monday morning.

Among those already in the mix is last-start Warwick Farrm winner Plutorius from the Kevin Moses stable.

Moses opted to give him his first 2400m test in a benchmark race at Warwick Farm rather than the Christmas Cup and it paid off when the gelding scored a fighting half neck win over Blazing Dragon.

Waller, meanwhile, racked up two winners at Canterbury on Saturday to take his season tally to 63-1/2.
