1 start for 1 win for Shot Of Courage

Monday 22 December 2014, 9:22am

12th December 2014.

Our regally bred Hussonet homebred Shot Of Courage was produced at Moe Friday 12th December and despite doing plenty of things wrong put his head down at the right time to win the Stirloch Maiden Plate officially by a nose in a driving finish from Asquillion with Just Nicked It close up third.

In a family that has produced our dual GROUP winning filly LA BELLA DAME, a GROUP 3 winner inDAMSELFLY (the dam of Shot Of Courage), multipl Stakes performer LE BONSIR and multiple Metropolitan Winner Bella’s Bro, Shot Of Courage had a lot to live up to and whilst not appearing to have the natural precociousness of his illustrious relatives fortunately for his Syndicate he still managed to get the job done.

The first and unfortunately the only foal of DAMSELFLY, Shot Of Courage has been immature both mentally and physically and has been taken along slowly and allowed to develop without being pushed. He looks to be a galloper who is going to get out over some nice ground during his career and has a real crack and as his jockey Dale Smith has said all along, he is aptly named as he definitely HAS inherited the family trait of courage that all of his relatives displayed over their respective racing journeys.

There are no lofty plans for Shot Of Courage at this stage of his career but rather will be taken along nice slowly to continue on with his racing education in some nice ratings races over the Christmas/New Year period where traditionally there is plenty of racing and an abundance of races to pick and choose from!
