Browne OK after Doomben fall

Saturday 20 December 2014, 6:52pm

Jockey Damian Browne escaped serious injury when he was tossed from Cape Kidnappers just after the start in the Lough Neagh Stakes at Doomben on Saturday.

Chief steward Allan Reardon said after an inquiry it was found Cape Kidnappers knuckled on jumping and had lost the near fore plate.

"Cape Kidnappers sustained a laceration to the inside the heel," Reardon said.

Trainer Kelly Schweida said he would monitor Cape Kidnappers overnight but expected him to be sore in the morning.

Browne was able to return unaided to the enclosure where he was complaining of a sore ankle but was otherwise unharmed.
