A gear change and a quick turnaround could be coming up for Saga Of The Storm after the filly scored an impressive win at Doomben on Saturday.
Saga Of The Storm became the third horse from the Liam Birchley stable to qualify for the $2 million Magic Millions Classic (1200m) on January 10.
Most Bookmakers reacted by cutting her price from $26 to $11 for the Millions with Saga Of The Storm set to join stablemates Flamenco and Pepperana in the race.
Favourite Saga Of The Storm ($2.60) came from third last to beat Real Good ($31) by a length in the Brisbane Marriott Hotel QTIS Two-Years-Old Hcp (1110m).
Birchley will consider backing up the filly in the Group Three BJ McLachan Stakes at the Gold Coast next Saturday.
"I will see how she pulls up. I would like her to get some experience at the Gold Coast," he said.
"She is by Real Saga and they are all very good blinkers horses so they might go on now."
Veteran jockey Robert Thompson rode Saga Of The Storm to perfection and timed his run perfectly in the straight.
Meanwhile, apprentice Travis Wolfgram completed a rare double for his mother Tracey Wolfgram when Tracey's Angel ($11) won the Sky Racing Hcp (2020m).
It was Tracey Wolfgram's first Saturday metropolitan winner.
"My other metropolitan winner was horse called Scottsdale which was ridden by my husband Philip so my two city winners have been steered by my husband and son. Surely that is an unusual double," Tracey Wolfgram said.
