Dothraki to carry Ryan's Millions hopes

Sunday 9 December 2012, 5:16pm

Much of Gerald Ryan's attention over the next few weeks will be on Queensland but first Dothraki has to earn his way to the richest race of the Australian summer.

The colt makes his debut on Saturday at Rosehill, his home track, with the $2 million Magic Millions Classic (1200m) on January 12 at the Gold Coast the aim.

Dothraki goes into the race off a barrier trial win last week and has pleased Ryan since.

"I'm hoping he can perform well on Saturday and then go to the Magic Millions," Ryan said.

"Glyn Schofield rode him in the trial and will be on him on Saturday."

The two-year-old is one of several horses Ryan will take north including Adnocon, who will race at his fourth Magic Millions day, Angel Of Mercy and Saturday's Rosehill winner Dances On Stars.

The three-year-old beat older horses over 1350 metres and Ryan is eyeing the Group Three Vo Rogue at Doomben with the colt.

"Angel Of Mercy will race in a benchmark race at Rosehill and then go to Queensland for the Bernborough or the Magic Millions Stayers Cup," Ryan said.

The trainer missed Dances On Stars' Rosehill win, taking an opportunity in his busy schedule for a trip to country Victoria to check on two of his leading autumn carnival hopes, three-year-old fillies Snitzerland and Villa Splendido.

Runner-up in the Golden Slipper and the winner of four stakes races over the spring, Snitzerland has been in a paddock at Euroa with her stablemate who had three starts during her campaign.

"They have been spelling for four weeks and will have another two weeks at Euroa," Ryan said.

"We will map out the plans over the next week.

"At the moment Villa Splendido will tackle the three-year-old fillies races in Sydney.

"Snitzerland is likely go to the Challenge Stakes and the Galaxy and then to Adelaide for the Swettenham Stud Stakes.

"I was very pleased with how they both looked. Snitzerland has really strengthened up and looks terrific.

"I'm looking forward to their return."
