The Magic Millions carnival has lost one of its major drawcards.

The White Hope will be spelled and miss the Magic Millions Cup (1400m) to concentrate on autumn and winter carnival goals.

Trainer Matthew Dunn said The White Hope was feeling the effects of his outstanding Eagle Farm win on November 24 when he ran a sizzling 1.21.57 for 1400m.

"He hasn't fallen apart completely or anything like that but he's a little bit different to what he was going into his last few runs and I'd hate to take him to the races and have him race poorly," Dunn said.

"The way he is now we'd run that risk because he felt his last run quite a bit. The spark just isn't there."

Dunn says it's a tough decision to spell The White Hope with the $400,000 Magic Millions Cup (1400m) at the Gold Coast on January 12 appearing an ideal target.

But he believes resting the gelding now will be in his long-term interests with the Stradbroke Handicap on the agenda at next year's winter carnival.

Dunn will start promising two-year-old Londehero in Saturday's Phelan Ready Stakes (1000m) at Eagle Farm.

"I would've preferred him going to 1200 metres but in saying that, he missed the start the other day and did a few things wrong," he said.

"He'll have a little refresher course on Tuesday morning to sort out his barrier manners to make sure he jumps properly.

"After this race he'll spell - win, lose or draw."

One horse on the way back is Group One TJ Smith winner Sizzling who has recovered from a back ailment and will start in Saturday's Gold Edition Plate.

Trainer Kelso Wood said Sizzling tore a back muscle during the Coolmore Quality (1200m) at Flemington on November 3 when he finished sixth to Nechita.

After the Gold Edition the colt will start in the Vo Rogue Plate (1350m) as his final lead-up to the Magic Millions Guineas (1400m).
