Description:
Raced at Caulfield at his 3rd start but was slightly disappointing. Trainer believes at this stage he is best suited on soft tracks as is the case generally with the maternal family . Will be given 3 weeks off in readiness for some winter racing . Star Realm who had just beaten Mio Dio , a short half head at their previous outing finished just behind the placings in Saturday's extremely strong field.
Mio Dio will without doubt improve as a 3yo as is the case almost without exception with the God's Own stock .
As mentioned Just missed recently in a strong 2yo race at Ballarat at only his second start , protested unsuccessfully . The fav in the event Northern Lyric has recent form behind VILLA VERDE & OVERREACH ( Joint Golden Slipper favourites ) , had run 2nd to Iconic ( winner of $250K Bendigo 2yo event ) & 2nd also to Cruden Bay ( Winner of Listed Moonee Valley race ) in his only 3 career starts . The race was contested by 2yo's trained by the likes of Peter Moody , David Hayes , Darley , Anthony Freedman , Rick Hore-Lacey , Matthew Ellerton . It is expected to be a strong form line race.

At his first start he was slowly away , and never got into his galloping stride. Just prior he was very impressive winning a jump out at Mornington by 7 lengths ( Video 1 attached ).

VERY forward for a God's Own , and you know he'll improve greatly as a 3yo.
Wez Hunter , trainer of this 2yo , and is VERY upbeat about him . He is the first foal from a Scenic 3/4 sister to Piavonic outstanding mare , winner of Gr1 Manikato Stks defeating SUNLINE and the likes of Falvalon , she subsequently is the dam of $1.125M earner Von Costa De Hero , narrowly beaten by Sebring in the Golden Slipper , she also has a $1.2M yearling in the sales ring.
Dam this colt was listed recently with a leading bloodstock agent for $65,000 , recently foaled down to Wanted.
Interesting how well the family has " clicked" with Scenic , very encouraging for this fella.
This is a nice gelding from a Million Dollar family and who can forget God's Own performance in the Caulfield Guineas - video attached !.
