With just 25 per cent of this STRATUM x Bethany gelding available for syndication and shares starting from 1.25 per cent, it’s a great chance to own a quality racehorse with ongoings as little as $43.75 per month.


STRATUM has an enviable record as a sire of racehorses that are fast and forward in development, and this gelding is eligible for both QTIS and BOBS bonus prize money. He was purchased at the Magic Millions Premier sale in January 2013 where Gollan Racing invested in his growth potential and it has paid off.


Tony says “He has a real presence and an exceptional walk, and has developed well since our purchase at the beginning of the year”. The gelding has been broken in and looks likely to race as a 2YO.


In 2005, STRATUM won the G1 Golden Slipper Stakes, which is the premier 2YO race on the Australian thoroughbred racing calendar and the richest 2YO race in the world. He has excelled at stud in a relatively short time, and was crowned Australia’s Champion 2YO Sire with a first crop that included CRYSTAL LILY (winner of the Golden Slipper in 2010). His progeny includes 19 stakes winners (including G1 winners STREAMA and SOUTHERN LORD) and 24 stakes placegetters. His offspring have earned more than $21 million in prize money.


STRATUM’S strength as a sire is perhaps no surprise. STRATUM is by REDOUTE’S CHOICE who was twice crowned Australian Champion 2YO Sire as well as Australian Champion Sire by Average Earnings Index (3 times) and Australian Champion Sire (2 times). REDOUTE’S CHOICE himself was the son of international champion sire DANEHILL (who produced 89 G1 winners). This sire line not only achieves with its juvenile progeny but has produced horses that have long racing careers and achieve at elite level over a range of distances.


The dam of this gelding is Bethany, who has already achieved success in producing Saraji, a stakes placegetter with more than a quarter of a million dollars in prize money.


Bethany is a winning daughter of successful Queensland broodmare Huntington Girl. Huntington Girl is a proven thoroughbred matriarch; she has foaled an impressive 13 runners for 12 winners including stakes winners DYNAMIC LOVE and KEY BAR NIGHTS as well as stakes placegetters Arimathea and Grouse Lane.


Importantly, Bethany is by AL HAREB, whose broodmares have proven to be an effective nick with DANEHILL. Evidence of this compatibility includes G1 placegetter RINGA RINGA ROSIE, G2 winner HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, multiple G3 winner FRIDAY CREEK and stakes winner UNDENIABLY. Bethany also appears to be nicking well with the DANEHILL sire line as all of her best performing foals have this thoroughbred royalty in their blood. In partnering with DANEHILL’s grandson STRATUM, Bethany is looking to achieve further success.
