Description

This horse was selected by Shea Eden and Peter Moody at the 2016 New Zealand Bloodstock Ready to Run Sale. He breezed up in fast time with plenty in hand. When prepared for that sale, the highly regarded Chad Ormsby assessed this colt as a “serious horse”.

“Great action, nice head, good deep girth and his breeze up run gave us the faith to purchase him." - Peter Moody

Shea has taken this horse along slowly since December and gelded him to prepare him for successful three and four-year-old seasons. Shares were only just released to the public in August.

LATEST REPORTS

“He has really impressed me and is giving me every indication that he will develop into a city class horse.” – Shea Eden, September 2017

"Your horse worked strongly over 1000m at even time before improving the last 400m of his work this week. He's a lovely horse, he's working really well and if he continues that way he will be ready to have a jump out in about 2 weeks." - Shea Eden, October 2017

"Your horse is ready for a jump out on Monday December 11th (delayed from the 4th due to weather).
His work has really improved in the last fortnight - our assistant trainer Dale Short rode him in a piece of work this morning and said the horse gave him a great feel.

We've been patient with him and we're starting to see the benefit. He won't be out to break records on Monday, it's merely the next stage of his development this prep.

THE SIRE

Three time Group 1 winner RIP VAN WINKLE was the World Champion Turf 3yo Miler in 2009 and World Champion Turf 4yo Miler in 2010. He was also the equal highest rated Turf horse in the Intermediate category in 2010, with SO YOU THINK.

He has already sired 17 stakes-winners. Most of his progeny improve with age. His 167 runners from his first combined global crop (both Europe and NZ bred) include 15 stakes-winners (9% of runners).

His oldest NZ bred progeny are due to turn five on 1-August-2017. Six of that crop (8.3% of runners) are stakes-winners, all at Group level (CAPELLA, LARSALA, EURO ANGEL, MAGIC DANCER, FIRST IMPRESSIONS and LET HER RIP).

THE DAM

This horse is the second live foal of GO SOUTH, a daughter of GOLAN (IRE).

Go South raced just the three times, but is a half-sister to three winners including stakes-winners ANTARCTIC MISS (G3 MVRC Champagne Stakes and 3rd G1 MRC Thousand Guineas) and BALLYMORE LASS (Listed CJC Canterbury Breeders’ Stakes).

Go South’s dam, FAR SOUTH, produced four winners including the above two stakes-winners. This is the same family as Group 2 winning sprinter MISS TESSLA and 29 other winners descending from fourth dam ALICE DOWNS (IRE).

THE PEDIGREE

The mating of Rip Van Winkle and Go South produces the successful GALILEO / RAINBOW QUEST cross responsible for eight stakes-winners.

They included MAHLER (G3 Royal Ascot Queen’s Vase, 2d G1 The St Leger, 3d G1 VRC Melbourne Cup), UP (G2 Curragh Blandford S., G3 Dance Design S., 2d G1 Longchamp Poule d’Essai des Pouliches) and QUEST FOR MORE (G1 Chantilly Prix du Cadran,)

THE SHARE PRICE and ONGOING MANAGEMENT

$5,200 per 5% includes all costs to 31-Aug-2017, plus insurance to 16-Nov-2017.

Applicants will become owners directly with Eden Racing. All invoices and communications will come from Shea and his team.

NO MANAGEMENT FEES apply.

The additional fees to promote and manage the finances of this syndication total just 3% of the share price.
