Description

Only 3 shares remaining - this colt will return to work on 1st September!

By Champion 2YO EXCEED AND EXCEL, REWARD FOR EFFORT won two of his first three starts for Peter Moody as a juvenile including the Group 1 MRC Blue Diamond. REWARD FOR EFFORT was an undefeated weight for age winner at 3 (MRC Sir John Monash S. [L]) and a Group winner at 4 (STC Concorde S. [G3]), competing only at Stakes level throughout his brief 10 start career.

REWARD FOR EFFORT was retired to stud at 4 having achieved Stakes success as a 2,3 and 4YO. Covering 173 mares in his second season at stud, REWARD FOR EFFORT went on to an even bigger book in 2013 making him the leading Australian Third Season sire by numbers. He is the only Victorian-based sire to hold a spot in the Top 10 busiest sires in the country – and his sales results frank his appeal as a Stallion.

REWARD FOR EFFORT Yearlings hit the Yearling sale circuit this year, proving very popular with buyers. At the Inglis Premier sale they averaged $75K, a remarkable return to breeders on his $11K service fee. He achieved a higher average price at Premier than many other stallions commanding higher service fees including SEBRING, BEL ESPRIT, WANTED and FLYING SPUR to name a few. His progeny are now in some of the best stables in Australia – his top seller from Premier ($170K) finding a home in Peter Moody’s stable.

PLAISIR DE GAIN, the dam of this colt, is an unraced daughter of FUSAICHI PEGASUS. Her 4YO WRITTEN TYCOON mare, Magical Tycoon, won in February this year and is also city placed (3d. SAJC Sloans Sands H.). PLAISIR DE GAIN’s 3YO by little known US Stallion US RANGER trialed well to finish 2nd for Jason Warren in a trial at Cranbourne in July and will likely debut in the Spring.

Second dam of this colt, PLAISIR D’AMOUR, a city winner herself, is – wait for it - a full sister to International super-sire DANEHILL DANCER. PLASIR D’AMOUR has a perfect record at stud – 6 winners from 6 to race including G3 runner-up Encosta Belief (2nd VRC CS Hayes S. [G3]). Third Dam, the esteemed MIRA ADONDE, is the dam of 7 winners including DANEHILL DANCER as well as a further 3 Stakes winners (UNILATERAL, COLOSSUS and ADONESQUE)

“There’s certainly a lot to like about this colt – his sire was a G1 winner of the Blue Diamond and, much like his Dad, he has everything you would look for in a 2YO. He’s got a beautiful stride and attitude towards his work. Overall, he has broken in like a true professional,” Mitch Beer.
